Hi I am Red! I was a community dog who became pregnant way back in 2019, which caused my pack to turn on me and they almost killed me. Luckily I was already friends with Peshna from Cherai Tails, and she took me to the Beach House were I could have my litter safely.
When all my puppies got adopted to great homes Cherai Tails knew the streets were not safe for me anymore, so they sent me to a nice boarding place in Thrissur. This is quite expensive, and I don't mind it, but I would really prefer to live on a farm where I have lots of space to run around.
My favourite things are cuddles and chicken.
Hi! I'm Rakhi
I am 4 years old and me and my brother Armstrong were dumped on the beach when we were small puppies in the monsoon of 2021.
Armstrong was adopted quickly but I had a condition called Cherry Eye, which was a blood blister on my eye that I needed removed with surgery.
During the post-op care I was left alone which made me incredibly stressed and I developed a skin disease, which meant I had to be alone for longer as I couldn't mix with other dogs! Both of these conditions have now been managed.
I was named after the festival that unites siblings of all ages, in fact Peshna thinks I have more empathy than any dog she's ever known.
I love ALL life passionately and I make friends with cats, birds, and mice, they are all my friends. In fact, through my perseverence I domesticated a feral cat in the neighbourhood, now we call her Boots and she lives with us.
I don't like being told off AT ALL so I am very easy to train, I could even be a therapy dog. I don't like being alone so I am looking for a 'busy' home to live in filled with love.
Hi Guys, I'm Polo!
I am almost 6 years old and I have been with Cherai Tails almost all of my life.
I was rescued from a traffic accident and had to have one of my back legs amputated, I am a little slow but I get around just fine.
I am cuddly, bossy (assertive) and possessive (loyal). I like humans but not other dogs, apart from my girlfriend Blondie, who I currently live with.
I bark when people come to the door, so there is no need for a doorbell if you adopt me.
I am looking for a doting human servant who will love me and only me and be at my beck and call. Please apply below!
I'm Serb, and I was rescued by Cherai Tails after the terrible flood of 2018, with my four brothers and sisters. We were all named after Football World Cup teams and Serb is short for Serbia. When a local stall holder reported us to Peshna, she found is in terrible shape - we were malnourished with awful skin diseases.
With donations from kind humans we were all nursed back to health. I have always been a lapdog, I just wanted human company, but even so I was the only one of my litter who did not get adopted.
I live with Peru, we are both 7 years old now, and we have been quite sad since our other best friend Panama died this year, so Peshna is trying to integrate us with Bubba and Rakhi for more company.
I am a soppy boy, I am quite clumsy, and my favourite food is mackerel.
After so long at Cherai Tails HQ I don't think I am suitable for adoption, but I would love it if you'd sponsor me!
Hi, I am Bubba! I am 2 years old and I was dumped as a tiny pup on Cherai Beach. I got tangled in a fishing net and I was howling bloody murder, but I had the greatest luck as a wonderful friend of Cherai Tails heard my cries.
I was given lots of love and care and grew big and beautiful, but then I developed a skin condition that made me very seriously ill. Cherai Tails tried everything to help me and now that they've changed my diet and are washing me several times a week, my skin has improved a lot and I've got my zest for life back. My best friend is Rakhi. We spend every day together.
If you sponsor me, it will help Cherai Tails to pay for the special diet and shampoo and toys for us - I promise I'll share!
I would love to find my own family one day and I am looking for a very special adopter who will take care of all my needs.
Hey, Blondie here! I came to Cherai Tails in 2019. I was part of a big litter on the beach and when Dilip the vet saw me he knew as the weakest 2 puppies me and my brother would not survive - so he took us to Peshna.
My brother died suddenly of a heart attack and I was not doing so good either. Then one day someone threw a box of puppies over the Cherai Tails property wall who were diseased, 4 of them died and the illness spread killing 3 of the Cherai tails insiders too.
My best friend Peaches and I got the virus, and peaches died. I went to the vet everyday for 6 weeks for an IV and antibiotics, and it was the day before lockdown that I swallowed on my own for the first time.
Peshna had to force-feed me for 3 more weeks until I had the strength to even lift up my head. Many people would have given up on me but Peshna didn't, and now I am a healthy, happy, bouncy 5 year old beauty.
I take a while to trust people, and I still cause trouble sometimes - I HATE having my nails trimmed or going to the vet.
I live with Polo, who is madly in love with me, and we are very happy together, so I am not up for adoption.
It would be great if you could sponsor me though, or send me and Polo food and treats!
Hello - Bella here!
I have been with Cherai Tails since way back in 2018, when Peshna found me paralysed laying on the road.
I was very weak, had a terrible skin disease, could not swallow and was completely feral. Everyone thought I should be left to die, but not Peshna, she never gave up.
I went to live with Pesh and I slowly accepted her, but it took me years and years to mellow to other humans. In fact, I don't really like other dogs either - only Serb.
In the cold weather my back legs can lock twisted at an angle which makes it difficult for me to move. This last year I managed with a morning massage, and Peshna helped me up my disabled ramp when I was especially stiff.
When it's not raining I like to shuffle over and get close to Serb.
Due to the fact I don't really like anyone I am not up for adoption, but you can sponsor me!
Hello I am Biscuit! Someone reported me, Pink and Stig in September 2023, because we were living on the roadside at a busy intersection with the rotting bodies of our mum and siblings.
Cherai Tails fed us and dewormed us and built us a shelter away from the road, but as we got healthier and stronger we became more outgoing, and I got hit by a car.
Luckily I pulled through, but we had to be moved to the beach house for our safety.
I am the most outgoing of my siblings, I am affectionate and would make a great family pet. I can be adopted anywhere in the world, can you give me a home?
Hello I am Peru! I was rescued in the floods of 2018 from a dangerous construction site as a small puppy with my 5 brothers and sisters.
My mother was looked after by a local family but they wanted nothing to do with her puppies, so Peshna took us to Cherai Tails.
You wouldn't believe it now, but I was the smallest and most timid of my litter, I always ate the scraps after everyone else was done.
Now I am the boss, as I am very clever and a fair leader. I love belly rubs, walks on the lead around the driveway, and hunting.
I can't really be adopted as I have a thyroid condition and I have not been sterilised as my uterus is fused to my bladder. I also won't take any medication, I am pretty stubborn like that. My favourite food is anything I can steal from a crow!
Recently I had a new house built with kind donations from Ireland and I absolutely love it, I am a real homebody. Would you consider sponsoring me?
My name is Rua.
Sinead found me in 2023 when she was feeding the street dogs of Cherai Beach and she noticed I was a new dog to the patch.
She thinks I was abandoned, as I was starving and extremely thin. The local pack kept attacking me and wouldn't let me eat, it is not their fault though - I was a newcomer and it was monsoon season so they were all hungry too.
I did not know how to survive on the streets and I kept seeking out humans for affection, so Sinead knew she had to do something. Preethi from PAWS Thrissur agreed to take me in as soon as I was vaccinated and dewormed, so Sinead took care of everything and since then I have been in paid boarding, but it is not a permanent solution - I need a family.
It turns out I have a medical condition so I need daily digestive enzymes and heart pills, which are not expensive.
Whether I end up finding a home in India or abroad, Cherai Tails is determined it will be with someone who loves me and will care for me as family.
I know my forever family is out there! Is it you?
My name is Fiona, Fifi for short. Me and my sister Mimi were reported to Cherai Tails by an Australian tourist in 2023, making us the newest and youngest Insiders at 11 months old.
Me and Mimi were living in a dead tree stump, we were very scabby and underweight but ridiculously friendly.
After a bit of TLC and a nutritious diet me and Mimi have flourished, and we can be adopted anywhere in the world - we are the easiest, most sweet and happy dogs you could ever wish for.
I like to leap on people's laps from great distances for attention, but after a few minutes of being fawned over I am pretty independent and will go off to do my own thing.
Me and Mimi can be adopted together or separately and if you met us you would fall in love so fast!

I have a beautiful heart shape on my forehead, I love cuddles and belly rubs, well actually attention of any kind! I even like getting my nails cut if it means the focus is on me!
Me and Fifi can be adopted together or separately and if you met us you would fall in love so fast!
Hey, I'm Stig! Someone reported me, Pink and Biscuit in September 2023, because we were living on the roadside at a busy intersection with the rotting bodies of our mum and siblings.
Cherai Tails fed us and dewormed us and built us a shelter away from the road, but as we got healthier and stronger we became more outgoing and wandered too close to traffic, and Biscuit got hit by a car.
Luckily she pulled through, but we had to be moved to the beach house for our safety.
I am the most shy of me and my sisters, and it would take someone very special and very patient to adopt me. I do not like loud noises or sudden movements, but when I do learn to trust you I am very affectionate and loyal. Are you my special person?

I take a little while to warm up to people, but this tends to only be a few days. I am looking for a quiet home as I do not like loud noises or sudden movements, but when I do learn to trust you I am very sweet and I love belly rubs. I can be adopted with Stig, or by myself.
Good News Stories
Here are a few of our success stories over the years, showing how your donations have made a difference and changed lives.
Della's Story
Della was dumped by the beach in Summer of 2023 at 2 years old. She did not know how to survive on the streets, and being a big friendly girl kept approaching local humans for help.
In response they threw rocks at her face, leaving her with a nasty scar. When we found her she was bleeding and emaciated, and so we had to take her to a small rented villa nearby to keep her safe.
Della hated the heat and really struggled for one whole year while we were looking for an adopter.
Finally, after so much waiting, her luck changed and she was offered a home in Goa with a lovely family and their other golden Lab, Mia. A volunteer took Della on the overnight train to Goa in September 2024, and the journey was long and scary.
But now, Della is in a loving home where she eats organic food, plays in the ocean and gets walked twice a day. She wears a bathrobe after her wash and lays in the air-con to her heart's content.

Blanche's Story
Cherai Tails and Blanche go way back! We started feeding her, as we did all of the beach dogs, during the lockdown and we soon noticed she had a tumour. She was our very first TVT case, TVT being canine cancer.
When we took her to the vet they couldn't believe Blanche was a street dog because she was so well fed and perfectly behaved. Her cancer was cured with chemo but we could not sterilise Blanche straight after the treatment, and by the time we took her in it was already too late and she was pregnant. Luckily it was early enough to abort and have her spayed at the same time.
She is a survivor, and while she is sweet-as-pie to humans she bullies the other dogs, one of them being our Red who is now an insider.
Blanche today is looked after by a local who feeds, her, she holds her own and we visit her several times a week to check shes doing OK.
Dusty & Deebees Story
Peshna met Dusty while she was staying at Shibu's beach house, recovering from an operation in 2020.
Dusty has kidney disease and she needs constant medical care, a special diet, frequent vet visits and a weekly IV drip to keep her hydrated. She is loved to bits by the fishermen on this patch of the beach, and they feed her well, however, they don't have the funds to take care of her medical treatment.
Whenever Dusty is looking unwell the fishermen call Peshna, and we fundraise for her treatment. She is a good girl and has been to the vet more times than any dog should tolerate, We are working out how we can best manage her illness while she can still live the life she loves on the beach.
Dusty is free and pampered and loves her humans and one other dog; Deebees.
Deebs is probably Dusty's baby and the fishermen also love him dearly, they call him Okro. In 2023 he rocked up and demanded cuddles and since then he has been one of our Tails. He has a wonky jaw from a previous accident and the fishermen nursed him back to health.
He is our favourite sunset companion and we are working on getting him to a place where he can be sterilised comfortably.
Oldie's Story
In March 2023 a black Labrador mix was dumped near Sanal's house, and as a volunteer for Cherai Tails he called us for help, This dog we called 'Oldie' was so malnourished he tried to eat the plastic bag the food was in when we first met him.
We thought he would not make it, he was disoriented to the point we mistook him for being blind, the monsoon was coming, and we could not take him in.
We put out a plea for an adopter and the post was shared as far as Delhi, where a family fell in love with his photo and simply said "Send him now" - they sent us the money for the Oldie's flights immediately.
He is now called Ollie and he lives in the big city, he has his own human servant and his favourite food is pizza. He really got lucky.
